AVX-10K variants and configurations
Compare the main AVX-10K preconfigured hardware and software packages to match your specific communication, navigation, and surveillance testing needs.
AVX-10K-NAV (Navigation & Communication)
The AVX-10K-NAV package is specifically configured for communication and navigation testing, acting as the direct equivalent to the legacy IFR4000. It includes all the required hardware and software options to test AM, FM, SSB, SELCAL, ILS, VOR, and Marker Beacons. This variant is ideal for shops that focus purely on radio and nav systems without the need for transponder or surveillance capabilities.
By focusing on NAV/COMM, this configuration streamlines operations for technicians who do not require ADS-B or TCAS functionalities. It utilizes the exact same durable hardware platform but limits the active software applications, allowing you to optimize your budget. Crucially, software capabilities like DME or Transponder testing can be added later if your maintenance scope expands.
AVX-10K-SVLC (Surveillance)
The AVX-10K-SVLC package focuses entirely on surveillance systems, serving as the direct replacement for the legacy IFR6000 test set. It comes standard with the Transponder, ADS-B, and DME software options, along with all the required interfacing hardware. This ensures full readiness for testing Modes A, C, and S, as well as performing ADS-B In/Out performance verifications.
This setup is tailored for avionics shops heavily involved in mandate-driven transponder and ADS-B certifications. It provides essential capabilities like GICB monitoring, UAT monitoring, and target generation for comprehensive surveillance checks. It operates as a highly focused tool that eliminates NAV/COMM clutter for dedicated surveillance technicians.
AVX-10K-CNS (Comm, Nav & Surveillance)
The AVX-10K-CNS is the most comprehensive preconfigured package, combining all the features of both the NAV and SVLC variants. It includes all necessary hardware to support the full suite of communication, navigation, and surveillance software options out of the box. This makes it the ultimate all-in-one flight line tool for complete aircraft system verification.
Choosing the CNS package ensures that an avionics shop is fully equipped to handle almost any standard flight line task, from routine radio checks to complex ADS-B auto-tests. While it covers the vast majority of airborne systems, specialized testing options like TCAS, UAT, and ELT remain optional add-ons, allowing for further customization based on specific fleet needs.
Core components and testing applications
Explore the primary software applications and physical accessories that define the AVX-10K’s operational architecture and testing workflow on the flight line.
Transponder and ADS-B Auto-Test
The Transponder Auto test function provides configured testing parameters including Generic ATCRBS, Generic Mode S, and FAR Part 43. The ADS-B Auto application supports AC 20-165 and CS-ACNS testing for both airborne and surface configurations. This software architecture fundamentally streamlines complex mandate compliance checks.
Performing these automated tests requires highly accurate positional data, which can be manually entered or instantly determined via the AVX-10K’s built-in GPS receiver. Utilizing these guided, automated sequences saves significant time and reduces manual configuration errors during routine maintenance. Test results are then easily uploaded and analyzed through the StrataSync platform.
TCAS and Target Generation
The TCAS option allows technicians to set up an intruder and run specific dynamic scenarios to ensure proper Traffic Collision Avoidance System functionality. Additionally, the Target Gen feature enables the stimulation of up to five static targets, which can be configured as 1090 MHz ADS-B, ADS-R, or TIS-B.
Each generated target is accurately associated with the Aircraft Under Test’s configurable latitude, longitude, and heading parameters. This capability is critical for validating ADS-B In receiver performance and verifying cockpit display accuracy. It provides a controlled, repeatable RF environment right on the ramp.
Directional Antenna Couplers
The AVX-10K utilizes physical antenna couplers, such as the UC-584 and TC-201A, which securely mount directly over the aircraft’s antennas. These accessories provide a shielded RF connection, which is essential for highly accurate Effective Radiated Power (ERP) measurements and reliable testing in multi-path environments.
Using couplers isolates the test signal, which minimizes false intruders and prevents dangerous interference with active Air Traffic Control operations. This allows technicians to conduct full-power transponder and ADS-B tests safely inside a hangar or on a crowded flight line. It ensures regulatory compliance without needing special frequency allocation approvals.
